Leeds City Markets Entrance

The City Markets on Kirkgate are the largest covered markets in Europe, extending back from the splendid 1900 façade we see in this photograph. This is one of the 3 main entrances that have the curved “Leeds City Markets” signs above them.

Here we see one of the lit domes towering over Kirkgate. This dusk image mixes both the cool, blue evening ambient light with the warmer “uplights” which illuminate the building at night. This time of day often produces a wonderful mix of colour in a cityscape.
